ASERL Center of Excellence at Nicholls State

Center of Excellence

 

The Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) has established a Collaborative Federal Depository Program.

Nicholls State University has agreed to become a Center for Excellence for the National Marine Fisheries Service. Having signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Nicholls has agreed to perform the following for each agency:

  • Work to collect and maintain 100% of the agency's output
  • Catalog these titles fully down to the item level and identify them as the archival copy
  • Set the holdings on OCLC and agree to share through Interlibrary Loan without cost
  • Work to develop relevant subject expertise

NMFS Collection at Nicholls

The Government Information Department on the third floor of the Ellender Library maintains a permanent, comprehensive collection of printed materials produced by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The collection also includes microfiche, posters, CDs, DVDs, kits, and other materials. 

The materials can be found in the C 55.300-399 call number range. Search for NMFS materials in the box below.

National Marine Fisheries Service

The National Marine Fisheries Service, also known as NOAA Fisheries, is an office of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration within the Department of Commerce.

The National Marine Fisheries Service is responsible for the stewardship of the nation's ocean resources and their habitat. The NMFS provides vital services for the nation: productive and sustainable fisheries, safe sources of seafood, the recovery and conservation of protected resources, and healthy ecosystems.
