How to Register to Vote

How to Register to Vote (or Check Your Registration)

The following are steps to register to vote using Vote.org, which works to register to vote for the first time, check your voter registration, or check where your polling place is located. You can register here regardless of your home state.

Louisiana residents may prefer to register using Geauxvote.com.

1. If you want to Register to Vote for the first time:

Visit Vote.org and click "Register to Vote." If you have a state-issued ID, it usually takes less than 2 minutes!

If you don't have a Louisiana ID, that's ok! You can print a form from this site and mail it in to get registered.

2. If you want to check your registration:

You can do that on Vote.org too. Navigate to the site, then click "CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION." It typically only takes about 30 seconds to find out where you are registered to vote (or whether you are registered to vote).

You can also check your Louisiana registration at Geauxvote.com.

3. If you don't know where to vote

Look it up on Vote.org! Their Polling Place Locator quickly looks up where you need to go to vote on election day.

4. If you want to vote by mail or absentee

You can request an Absentee Ballot here.
