This Network produces a lively and trusted online magazine that covers important developments in genomics research around the world, with coverage focused on stories about genomics and human medicine, as well as the ways in which scientists are using genomics to find biological solutions to energy needs and environmental problems.

This Center is a leader in bioethics research and its deployment in the ethical, efficient, and compassionate practice of the life sciences and medicine.

This Resouce Center will familiarize researchers with the science and techniques used to make transgenic flies. Transgenic organisms, which contain DNA that is inserted experimentally, are used to study many biological processes. In this lab, researchers will create a transgenic fly to study circadian rhythms. The fly glows only when a certain gene involved in circadian rhythms is activated.

Louisiana Biology Resources

BTNEP is a partnership of government, business, scientists, conservation organizations, agricultural interests, and individuals for the preservation, protection, and restoration of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary in southeast Louisiana.

The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) was formed in 1979 to increase society's awareness of the environmental, economic and cultural value of Louisiana's coastal and marine environments by conducting research and education programs directly relevant to Louisiana's needs in marine science and coastal resources and serving as a facility for all Louisiana schools with interest in marine research and education.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is charged with the responsibility of managing and protecting Louisiana's abundant natural resources.

STRATEGIC PLAN
To manage, conserve, and promote wise utilization of Louisiana's renewable fish and wildlife resources and their supporting habitats through replenishment, protection, enhancement, research, development, and education for the social and economic benefit of current and future generations; to provide opportunities for knowledge of and use and enjoyment of these resources; and to promote a safe and healthy environment for the users of the resources.
