Intro to Databases

Databases provide the most current scholarly articles. Experts in the field have reviewed these materials for accuracy and impact. Although the library's collection is extensive, it is not all-inclusive. If articles are not immediately available through one of the below databases, please submit an interlibrary loan (ILL).

CS Databases

Academic Search Complete This link opens in a new window Academic Search Complete is the world’s most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 7,000 full-text periodicals, including nearly 6,000 peer-reviewed journals.
Business Source Complete This link opens in a new window Business Source Complete provides full text from 11,200 sources, including more than 1,100 scholarly business journals. This database offers information in virtually every area of business including accounting & tax, banking, finance & insurance, construction, computer science, economics and many more.
Computer Source This link opens in a new window Computer Source™ contains nearly 300 full-text journals and magazines covering topics such as computer science, programming, artificial intelligence, cybernetics, information systems, robotics, and software.
Information Science & Technology Abstracts (ISTA) This link opens in a new window The oldest continuously produced information science database, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (ISTA) provides indexing and abstracts for journal articles, books, research reports and conference proceedings. It provides ongoing coverage of the most important periodicals in the field.
JSTOR Arts & Sciences Collection This link opens in a new window JSTOR’s Arts and Sciences Collections offer full-text access to hundred of titles in many disciplines of the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, business and education.
Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts with Full Text This link opens in a new window Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts with Full Text, indexes more than 500 core journals, more than 50 priority journals, and 125 selective journals; plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

Interlibrary Loan Request
For articles or books that the library does not carry electronically or in print. Plan ahead as ILL requests can take up to 3 weeks to receive.
LOUIS Card
A LOUIS card allows students, faculty, and staff to borrow materials directly from participating Louisiana institutions. Must be applied for in-person.

WorldCat is catalog of bibliographic records created by libraries who are members of OCLC. This database contains records for millions of items in over 400 languages.
