Finding eBooks

Finding eBooks

There are a few ways that you can search for ebooks and a few ways that you can view ebooks. We also have some etextbooks. This page will explain how to find ebooks, view ebooks, and how to find etextbooks.

How to search for ebooks

How to Search for eBooks

Use BOOLEAN searching to narrow or broaden your results. Boolean describes the connecting word you use between your search terms such as AND, OR, & NOT. Using these connectors allows you the ability to link search terms, so you can find articles that address multiple subjects. These options are sometimes found in drop down menus where you enter your search terms, or you will have to enter them yourself between terms.

Adding OR between search terms will search for all records with one term OR the other (this is a broader search tool).
Using AND between words will search for all records with BOTH or ALL search terms applied.
If you use NOT between the terms, it will search for the FIRST word in your search string and NOT the other.

Downloading eBooks

Downloading eBooks

The way to download/check-out an ebook depends on the database you get it from. Each vendor platform has it's own instructions. The 3 most common that you will find ebooks in are EBSCO, ProQuest Ebook Central, and Gale. Below are instructions for downloading ebooks. You can also use the search box in the left menu of this page to find ebooks in our catalog or the links to search ebooks in databases. Also, you have the option to view ebooks within the database without downloading.
