There are many ways to search for resources. One way is to browse the shelves of books (also called STACKS). Another way is to search the online catalog.
Whether browsing or online searching, it is helpful to know call number ranges (how the books are classified and ordered on the shelves), subject headings (terms assigned to items based on content), and keyword/search terms. The following is a list to get you started.
CALL NUMBERS

Subject Headings
Pre-defined "controlled vocabulary" words assigned to describe the content of each item in a database or catalog.
