The Pencil Tracks was a student publication created by "The Scribblers" in 1949, with the purpose of showcasing and bringing forward students' talent, creativity, and interest in literary expression. The Pencil Tracks give great insight into the students' views of the world going on around them. The annual series lasted over ten years with editions from 1949 to 1964; the Pencil Tracks saw many historical events including the transition of Francis T. Nicholls Junior College under Louisiana State University into an independent college currently named Nicholls State University.
